Schedule Overview
  • ODISSEI-SICSS follows the regular structure of SICSS. Each day is broken into four sessions (unless otherwise stated in the programme), with a guest lecture and the end of each day. This standard daily schedule is as follows:

  • 09:00 - 10:30 Session 1

  • 10:30 - 11:00 Coffee break

  • 11:00 - 12:00 Session 2

  • 12:00 - 12:30 Lunch

  • 12:30 - 14:20 Session 3

  • 14:20 - 14:40 Coffee break

  • 14:40 - 16:00 Session 4

  • 16:00 - 17:00 Guest lectures

  • The first week consists of lectures and hands-on assignments, covering a different topic each day. The second week consists of a group project.

  • Slides will be added on the ODISSEI Zenodo Community; other material will be shared via GitHub

  • Most course sessions will take place on the Erasmus Campus Woudestein, Burgemeester Oudlaan 50, Rotterdam. You can find information here and download the campus map here.

Week 2 - Benchmarking challenge
  • In the second week of the summer school (June 27-July 1), participants will be able to make full use of the ODISSEI infrastructure through a full scale benchmarking challenge, during which they will be put into teams and challenged to work on and submit solutions to a real-life prediction problem that social scientists and policy makers are grappling with.

  • Location: NIDI, Lange Houtstraat 19 in the Hague

  • 11:30 - 14:00 Lunch and transfer back to Erasmus University Rotterdam

  • 14:00 - 16:30 Benchmarking challenge

  • 16:30 - 18:00 Guest lecture: Fragile Families, Matt Salgnanik
