Pre-arrival

Two weeks is fairly intensive period to learn new topics. Therefore, we use a flipped classroom design to make most of our time together. Please read Chapter 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 from “Computational Thinking and Social Science.”

If you are not familiar with programming

  • Please read also Chapters 2, 5, and 8 before from the book.
  • In addition, you may use SICSS online assets to help you in learning.
  • Do about 20 introductory Python/R programming exercises from each chapters

If you are not familiar with social sciences

  • Please read Chapter 12 from the book.
  • Please read the original papers from four deconstructed case studies.

Host a Location

You can host a partner location of the Summer Institutes of Computational Social Science (SICSS) at your university, company, NGO, or government agency.
