June 15 to June 19, 2026 | University of Florida, Gainesville
Participation is open to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers with an interest in computational social science. Approximately 20 participants will be invited.
The Summer Institute aims to bring together computational social scientists with a wide range of technical backgrounds. Participants with less experience in social science research will be expected to complete additional readings before the Institute, and those with less coding experience will be asked to complete a set of online learning modules in R or Python.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and fields of study, particularly those from groups currently underrepresented in computational social science.
Applications are evaluated across several dimensions:
Applicants must submit the following documents
May1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (EST)
To guaranteed full consideration, all application materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on May 1, 2026. All materials must be submitted through the online application form. Applications that are incomplete by the deadline may not receive full consideration. Applicants will be notified by e-mail, and accepted participants will be asked to confirm their participation shortly after notification.

Yes, but not at the same time. For example, you can apply to SICSS-UF, and then if you are not accepted you can apply to one of the other locations if it has a later deadline. However, you cannot have an applications under review at two locations simultaneously.
Unfortunately, no. Every year we have more applicants than we can accept, and we would like everyone to have a chance to participate in SICSS once before we allow folks to participate twice.
You can host a partner location of the Summer Institutes of Computational Social Science (SICSS) at your university, company, NGO, or government agency.
